Supporting Below Benchmark Readers in the Upper Grades (Grades 3-8)

As upper-grade teachers, we are often met with the challenge of supporting readers that are in almost every band of text complexity. In this 90 minute session, we will study the skills and strategies that readers need to move up levels of text complexity.  We will explore ways to use the bands of text complexity and progressions as well as small group structures that specifically support students with foundational skills.
